Wednesday 12th August marked a very special moment for Amity Martial Arts as we welcomed students through the doors of our new dedicated martial arts centre for the very first time.

After almost seven years of training at Isebrook School, opening our own facility has been a major step forward for the club. A great deal of work has gone into transforming the building into a professional, welcoming space where students of all ages can learn, train and improve together.

Seeing the mats filled with students on opening night made every bit of that work worthwhile.

The first classes in our new home

The evening began with our Little Dragons class, followed by Junior Taekwon-Do, Beginners Taekwon-Do, our yellow belt and above session.

For our students and parents, it was their first opportunity to see the finished centre.

The large matted area gave everyone room to move, practise patterns, work with partners and develop their skills. We were able to make use of our training equipment, including pads, heavy bags and the mirrored wall for maximum precision and power.

The building may have changed, but the supportive atmosphere, high coaching standards and strong sense of community remain at the heart of everything we do.

More than just a training space

We wanted to create a dedicated martial arts centre that students could be proud to call their club.

The name Amity represents friendship, mutual respect and a sense of community. That meaning is reflected in our logo, which shows two martial artists bowing to one another.

Those values could be seen throughout our opening night.

Martial arts training is about far more than learning techniques. It can help children develop confidence, discipline and resilience, while giving teenagers and adults a practical way to improve their fitness, learn self-defence and become part of a welcoming community.

Our new centre gives us the opportunity to build on all of those benefits.

Thank you to our Amity community

Opening our own martial arts centre would not have been possible without the continued support of our students, parents, instructors, friends and families.

The first night was not only the opening of a new building. It was the beginning of the next stage in the club’s journey.

We are incredibly proud of what has been created and even more excited about what comes next.
