Dear Students and Parents,

We are delighted to announce that Amity is moving!

From Wednesday 12th August, classes will take place at our very own dedicated martial arts centre:

Amity Martial Arts
Rear of 75–83 Bath Road
Kettering
NN16 8ND

Last training date at Isebrook: Wednesday 5th August
New centre opens: Wednesday 12th August

After almost seven years at Isebrook School, we are moving into our new home.

I want to thank every student and parent who has supported Amity over the years. This move has only been made possible because of you, alongside the hard work and commitment of our instructor team. I am incredibly proud of the community we have created. Amity has always felt much more like a family than simply a martial arts club.

I also wanted to share a little about the journey that has brought us to this point.

Becoming an instructor was always my dream. I started training in Taekwon-Do when I was six years old and instantly fell in love with it. I still have a book from when I finished primary school which asked: “When I’m older, I would like to be…”

Eleven year old me confidently wrote: “A Taekwon-Do instructor.”

I started Amity in 2019, shortly after leaving school at the age of 18. The name and logo of the school were very important to me. I had seen martial arts schools where there was little sense of community or support, where people simply arrived, trained with ego, rarely spoke to one another and went home as soon as the class finished.

I wanted Amity to be different.

We chose the traditional Taekwon-Do bowing figures for our logo, while the word Amity represents a cooperative and supportive relationship between people, built on mutual knowledge, understanding and respect. Those values continue to guide everything we do.

On our first night, just five students trained. All five were already involved in Taekwon-Do, with Leighton and Rob being two of them. We did not even have mats, so everyone trained on the hard floor! Over the following months, new members joined and we introduced our Junior and Little Dragon classes.

Just six months into our journey, we were hit by a global pandemic and forced into lockdown. We had only just started to build momentum, so it felt like a huge step backwards. However, we continued to provide online classes and outdoor training whenever restrictions allowed, making sure that Amity survived.

Over the years, we added mats, expanded the training area and welcomed many new students. Our members have achieved fantastic success in gradings and competitions, earning new coloured belts and black belts, as well as becoming Regional, National and International champions and medallists.

Although Isebrook has been a great base for us, I always knew that there would be more opportunities if we could find our own home. For the past two years, we have been searching for a new location that could truly become our own. After many viewings, unsuitable properties and rejected offers, we have finally found it.

We have spent nearly three months preparing the new centre, and I am now incredibly excited to share it with you.

This is not simply a relocation. It is a brand-new chapter in the Amity story.

Having our own dedicated centre will allow us to expand our training days, offer additional martial arts alongside our Taekwon-Do base, and host more workshops and seminars. Students will also have access to new equipment, including a mirrored training wall, new pads and hanging kick bags.

For parents, there will be an outdoor social area where you can relax while classes are taking place. The venue also has its own car park, with plenty of additional on-street parking nearby.

During the initial moving and settling-in period, all current classes and training times will remain the same. From September, we will begin introducing our new timetable and move into the next stage of Amity’s development.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about the new location or the move.

Once again, thank you for helping to make this possible. I cannot wait to welcome you into our new home and see what the future holds for Amity Martial Arts.

Elliott
